Church Decorations
Churches need decorative supplies on hand for decorating the interior with the colors and symbols of seasons such as Advent, Lent, Christmas and Easter as well as holy days such as Good Friday, Ash Wednesday, and All-Saints' Sunday. Church supplies for these special celebrations need to include such items as advent wreaths and candles, Ash Wednesday ashes, palm branches for Palm Sunday and Nativity sets for Christmas.
Church Supplies
Symbols have been used in worship since ancient times to help worshipers reflect or pray. Many of these symbols are not permanent objects and are on a list of church supplies that must be replenished from time to time. Examples of these supplies include the bread and wine for communion (often called the Lord's Supper), disposable communion cups or glasses, and a communion cup filler. Anointing oil, incense, and candles are other necessary symbolic church supplies. Churches also need baptismal supplies, such as water disinfectant. And certificates marking special occasions such as baptism, confirmation, church membership, and baby dedication are supplies that need to be kept on hand.
More Church Supplies
Churches are more than places of worship; they are also businesses. And paperwork is a part of any business. Church supplies in this category include items such as pew card-and-pencil-holders, visitor cards, prayer request cards, offering envelopes, and offertory baskets or bags. Bibles, hymnbooks, rosaries, candleholders, and tract racks are also purchased as supplies by some churches.
Supplies for New and Expanding Churches
New or expanding churches also need to budget for larger church supplies, from chairs to tables to nursery furniture, wall décor (framed pictures of Biblical texts or religious leaders), statues, crosses and crucifixes, banners, music equipment, audio-visual equipment, altar linens, and even office supplies. Church supplies also include choir robes and clergy robes and overlay stoles.
Worship, does not require that all of these church supplies be on hand. But many of them are important to making a good first impression on visitors.
